Last night, the Findley Oaks 4th and 5th grade Chorus opened the Gwinnett Braves game with an a cappella performance of the National Anthem. Our schedule was changed at the last minute due to a rain delay from the day before, so the Chorus sang in between two double-header games. Thank you to all the friends, family, and staff who made it out to the game to see the Chorus sing, I hope you enjoyed the evening! The Gwinnett Braves won the second game 5-2! Go G-Braves!
As the school year draws to a close, it is time for some lessons we might not normally have time for during the usual hub-bub of the semester. This week, students in Ms. Flinn's classes got to do something really fun - parachute! Students in all grades got to experience the form of the famous Gioachino Rossini piece, "William Tell Overture", using different moves on the parachute, including: gallop, ripples and waves, mushroom, washing machine, and wind machine. Thanks to Artie Almeida and her book Parachutes and Ribbons and Scarves, Oh My! for the wonderful idea!
Congratulations to the Findley Oaks 4th and 5th grade Chorus students on two outstanding concerts yesterday!
First, the Chorus performed for their 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade classmates and teachers at the in-school concert yesterday morning at 8am. The concert went very well, and the audience also did a great job listening! Then, the Chorus performed a second time at 6:30 last night for our friends and families. All four songs on the program were sung beautifully! Kudos especially to our four soloists: Rachel, Riyaq, Janice, and Hannah! And lastly, thank you to Mrs. Teresa Palmer for your wonderful piano accompaniment. It is always a pleasure to hear you play, and the singers sound even better with your help! Last night, Findley Oaks held its first-ever 2nd grade "Informance" for our parents and the PTA. These students sang songs, played instruments, moved to the music, and even performed a folk dance! Congratulations to the 2nd grade students on a wonderful performance! Pictures coming soon!
